KaKwa Book Launch helping to celebrate National Culture Week at the RSM
Kakwa is a family owned, Métis company specializing in providing educational demonstrations, materials and programs centered on Indigenous culture and technology. Jeffery and Kathleen Coleclough have worked with Historic Parks and Museums across Canada and the United States and have also provided materials for movies and re-enactments. Their latest book “From Moose to Moccasins” outlines the technology of processing a moose hide from a green or raw form to a fully prepared hide, ready to be made into moccasins. The authors will be at the Museum on Saturday Sept 25 from 2 – 4 p.m. to answer questions and demonstrate some of the steps involved in the hide tanning process.

Silent Bombs: All for the Motherland
The Yorkton Film Festival and the RSM is presenting “Silent Bombs: All for the Motherland” on Tuesday September 21 at 7 p.m. This documentary was the first Saskatchewan film in 63 years to win the Best of Festival Golden Sheaf. It uncovers the history of nuclear tests in Kazahkstan during the Second World War. The film makers will be on hand for a question and answer session after the screening.
