Youth Forum on Sustainability: What is a Youth Forum?

The RSM Youth Forum on Sustainability was an education program for older teenagers and young adults.  The aim was to encourage young people to learn, through actions, to make a tangible difference in their communities.

Based on a model developed by Learning for a Sustainable Future, the Forum brought high school students, teachers, and local experts together:
· To foster learning about sustainability issues,
· To build partnerships between schools and communities, and
· To help participants become empowered through student-led Action Projects.

The Program consisted of two full days at the RSM, and schools took part through Action Teams, which usually consisted of five students and two teachers.  Each program cycle started before the previous one was over, so finishing students had a chance to influence the direction of emerging projects.
